Brian Anderson, Mark Carpenter (Past char), Danilea Werner (sub for L. Octavia Tripp), Evelyn Hunter, Vini Nathan (Provost), and Allison Batts (Parliamentarian).

Absent: Robert Cochran, excused.

Guests: Tracey Witte (Exec. Committee), Beth Davis-Shramik (President-elect, Exec. Committee AAUP), Liliana Stern (Economics Senator).

Minutes

  • Steering Minutes from November 7, 2023. Approved unanimously as posted.

  • Reviewing Draft Senate Agenda for January 23, 2024.

Remarks and Announcements

  • Remarks from Asst. Provost Norman Godwin

    • Agreed to be apart of the Teaching Series sub-group in NTTF Committe. Agreed to sit on Childcare task force committee.

Information Items

Childcare Report

Presented by Tracy Witte and Beth Davis-Shramik prior to last AU Senate meeting and will remain on agenda.

  • Rationale: meeting in November 2023 ran over and no time for the Childcare Report. Will initiate at the start of the January Senate meeting.

Faculty Handbook Update

Presented by Mitchell Brown (Chair).

  • Addressed updated AU Handbook Guidelines for Establishing and Filling Positions in the Teaching Title Series.

Committee Reports

Committee Report Faculty Salaries & Welfare

Presented by Wes Collins.

  • Analysis of AU Matching of Employee 403(b) contributions. In conjunction with: Stephanie Kadletz and Alicia Harkless - A&P Assembly Welfare Committee; Kimberly McCadden - University Staff Council.

Ad Hoc Committee on Sustainability, Resilience, and Innovation

  • Will move to February Steering Committee.

Faculty Handbook Committee

  • Will move to February Steering Committee.
